Indian students keen to pursue studies in Germany will now have to obtain certification from the Academic Evaluation Centre (Akademische Prüfstelle, APS), attached to the Science Section of the Embassy which is expected to speed up student admission and visa processing. From November 1st onwards, along with the visa application, APS certificates will have to be mandatorily attached with other documents.

APS will be open for applications beginning October 1st, 2022.

“We will open new appointment slots for student visa applications through VFS Global. These slots are valid for applications to be submitted starting November 1st, 2022,” said the German Embassy website in India.

“As there still is a number of entries on the appointment waitlist for winter semester 2022, please note that – unfortunately – it is not possible for the Embassy / Consulates to verify who is in possession of a still valid admission from a German university. Therefore, all students are kindly requested to register for an appointment only if they have obtained all mandatory documents,” further it said.

Any student desirous of pursuing a degree program at a German university having a school or university degree certificate from China, Vietnam or India needs a certification from APS. This applies to both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. APS certificate is not required in the case of doctoral degree.

The Academic Evaluation Center is a service institution of the cultural departments of the German embassies in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The documents of the students from India, China, and Vietnam are examined by the APS and after successful examination, it issues a certificate to them. This certificate confirms that the documents submitted are genuine and that the academic achievements suffice to study at a German university.

The students will have to apply online on the APS website and processing fees also has to be paid.
