A contest called ‘Vietnam’s aspiration: Turning Phan Thiet into the world’s leading destination for MICE and Wellness tourism by 2045′ launched by the People’s Committee of Binh Thuan Province and sponsored by Novaland Group is in progress. The contest which carries prizes worth more than VND17 billion started on September 10, 2022, and will continue till September 2023.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Minh, vice chair of the Binh Thuan Province people’s committee, said: “The contest is an opportunity to promote Phan Thiet Binh Thuan tourism with quality facilities for MICE and Wellness travel. It is also one of several events to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of Binh Thuan Province and the 27th Binh Thuan Tourism Day (October 24), and associated with launching events for ‘National Tourism Year 2023 Binh Thuan, Green Convergence’.”
Favourable geography, natural beauty and standard facilities are the key strengths of the Binh Thuan Province on which it wants to build a future of better prosperity. It is ideally situated at the gateway of the key economic region of the southeast and is also part of the southern tourism golden quadrilateral.
Over 1.2 million international tourists visited Vietnam in the first eight months of 2022. There were also records number of 80 million domestic tourists. The total earnings from tourism is estimated at VND 357 trillion.
However, COVID-19 pandemic has thrown many challenges which require to have long-term orientations and plans, including product innovation, diversification of services, improvement in quality, and promotion of tourism competitiveness in each locality as well as the whole country. MICE tourism is one of the top priorities for Vietnam’s tourism for the period till 2030.

The two main topics for the contest are tourism combined with conferences and seminars (MICE), and tourism combined with healthcare (wellness).
Participants can take part in both with the possibility of winning lucrative prizes including a special prize of VND1 billion.
The winners will be selected by the jury which comprises representatives of Binh Thuan Province’s government departments and agencies and also experts from the fields of tourism, MICE and wellness.
With an aim to promote and inspire more and more people’s participation during one year period of contest several international activities and events will be organized.
This includes several out-of-the-box initiatives- light and fashion performances to celebrate the New Year (December 2022), International Food Festival (April 2023), and International Sports Week with the Yoga Festival, International Marathon, International Friendship Golf Tournament (all expected to take place in July or August 2023).
An award ceremony will be held in September 2023 to give prizes to the winners.
The organizers are expecting enthusiastic and large scale participation from the competitors both domestically and internationally.
